SATYAM PLACEMENT PAPER ON 1st SEPTEMBER AT HYDERABAD

Test Date        : 1  September  2007
Test Location  : TKR College of Engineering, Hyderabad

HI Friends.  I am ARUSH TOKALA from Vidya Jyothi Institute of Technology. I would like to share my experience at Satyam.

1st Round – Aptitude Round:

This round consists of 15 questions all carrying equal marks. And every wrong answer carries a negative mark.So, friends only answer those questions which u r confident of.   I knew only 6 to 7 answers so made up my mind n went ahead with them. I dint even put a single guess for the remaining questions.

The topics on which the questions were asked are:
1.Calendar
2.Time & Distance
3.Time & Work
4.Probability
5.Pipes & cisterns
6.Ages
7.Logical Diagrams
8.Data Interpretation
I was really lucky tat day. Some how got thru this round for 1st time after losing Infosys and Wipro in 1st round itself.

2nd Round – Group Discussion:

This round was held on the next day. I came prepared very well. Actually started speaking in English rite after I came to know tat I cleared the 1st round. This had helped me a lot. Spoke in English n English only with all my friends till the commencement of the GD round. This had boosted my confidence levels. Finally the time came when 10 of us were given a topic and had to wind it up in 15 minutes.
The topic was:   “ DOES SANIA MIRZA NEED A MEDIA HIPE”    I confidently stood up and initiated the round by opposing the statement. In the beginning was a lil shivery but some how spoke loud n clear

After that I took part in the discussion 3 to 4 times to express my views. Most of them were supporting the statement and were repeatedly trying to put counters on me.Some how I managed convincing them with giving examples. The round was finally done and all of us were asked to conclude individually. Then the time came when the results were to b announced. I was confident that I will get thru. And among ten of us only 4 were selected. I was happy to find my name in tat list.

3rd Round – Technical and HR (combined):

This round was supposed to b held on the 3rd day. But to my surprise it was about to begin rite after v got our GD results. I became very nervous. My hands n legs started shivering when I was shown the way to the HR room. I dint remember even a single concept of my Mechanical Eng. Fear was my enemy. I was called in. Just before I entered the room took a deep breath and prepared myself for the worst     I then walked in confidently with my shoulders and spine straight.
ME: “ Good Morning SIR” But immediately realized its half past 12.00. I dint bother.
HR: “Tell me about yourself”.
ME:  I started shivering once again. But gave him a prompt answer by speaking about the stuff in my RESUME.
The HR was noticing all my moves.
HR: He then asked me “So Arush, being  a mechanical student do u think u can cope up with IT?”
ME: “Sir, mechanical engg is the only branch which deals with all other branches of engg. by giving us a fundamental knowledge about them.”
HR: Do you know any softwares ??
ME: I gave a frank reply saying tat I know few mechanical related softwares.
He repeatedly asked any other software other than these. Actually he was expecting me to speak some thing about C, C++ and Java.I dint utter an alphabet of C from my mouth.
He was impressed with the answer. And told me tat I can leave.I dint expect the round to get over so fast. It lasted for less than 10 mins.

Our results were finally announced after 6 long hrs of nail biting. Finally my name was announced along with others. I was very happy. It became a memorable day in my whole life. A Total of 1600 students appeared and finally only 61 of them were the final selects

SATYAM PAPER ON 8th OCTOBER 2007

Hi friends, I always used to read all your experiences and got benifited a lot.This time there is little change in the pattern of selection.

Pattern: Written & Interview only.

Written: Total 15 questions.There will be 4 easy questions which can be answered in 5min, then try to do another 4 in 25 min, that’s all. This is for those who are fully confident of getting those 8 right, because cutoff will be < 7 at max 8. Others try to answer maximum and for some question we can eliminate 3 options easily. Be careful negative marking is there. One thing written test is easy.For written test I’ll recommend u all please refer R.S Agarwal.

some questions of apti are-
1)Avarage weight of p,q,r is given (cannot remember) the ratio of students in class p&q is 3:4.no of students in r is 25% more than p.Find the avarage of all the 3 classes.
2)What will be the next in sequence(5 options where given)(diagram)
3)A,B,C,D,E are 5 in family.A& D are unmarried women & dont work.in family there are businessman,professor,artist.B is the brother of a & is not artist or businessman.E is husband.Who is professor?a)Ab)Bc)Dd)Ee)NONE OF THIS
4)pie chat is given for a salary 6000 what will be the ratio of radius with a salary of 1500.a)2:1b)1:2c)3:2d)none of these.
5)Sum in S.I. becomes 5 times its pincipal in 8 years what is the rate?a)5/2b)6/3c)d)none of these.
6)Question on probability
7)question in series completion
8)Question on Calender

9) ?
126 161
63 71 79
25 29 33 37
8 10 12 14 16
1 2 3 4 5 6

a) 220
b) 226
c) 227
d) 300
e) None of above
Ans:d.
(1+2)+5=8, (2+3)+5=10
(8+10)+7=25, (10+12)+7=29
(25+29)+9=63, (29+33)+9=71
(63+71)+11=126
(126+161)+13=300
10) T=T+2;
T1=T+2;
T2=T2+10;
T3=T2*4;
T5=T3+6;
T6=T5*5;
T7=T5/T6;
If T7<6
Then go to T1
T=T+2
What is the final output?
a) 4
b) 6
c) 7
d) 32
e) None of above
Ans:e
T2 is not defined

Other questions I don’t remember sorry…..but overall written paper was easy…but only funda to crack it …is do only correct questions…any wrong attempt may decrement the chance of your selection…cutoff will be 7 to 9 out of 15…and remember there can be upercutff.

The interview procedure is common Tech &HR together… There was 4 panel…..3 were taking interview of those who r interested in Integrated engineering services(IES) and other was taking of software interested students…Before interview u will have to fill up a form…please write only correct information..becoz most of the questions will be asked from it.

I had gien my interview to the software panel….

They had asked questions like

Tell me about ur self

Ur family background

The interview was more a strees interview.
if u r confident and technically sound then definetely u will get through.
CONFIDENCE is the main key to success.
Prepare all the concepts that r mentioned in the resume well.

All the questions will be from those subjects only.Atlast he told me to write 6 lines on any technical term…I explained my project..

Overall it was very good experience.

Remember the most imp thing u need for interview is confidence, patience, attitude. They will make u wait for a long time outside the interview room . In my case I was waited for 4 hours outside, so be patient. Go with nothing to lose attitude u will crack the interview.

From 536 students …213 was selected for interview..and out of these 137 made it to satyam… I am glad to see my name in the list and finally I was no more unemployed. BEST OF LUCK to all who is appearing for satyam selection process. Go with confidence

There was 10 students in a group…The panel member was very friendly with us..First she asked our names and then she advised us not to fight…All should get opportunity to talk…Then we were asked to discuss on the topic…almost all members in my group talked with no fighting among us….They are only checking our confidence level,ability to mingle in a group..If u r not good in english dont worry…thats not a problem…just speak out…Dont sit simply..(Also keep in mind this is an ELIMINATION round) …So u shud hav points..Dont beat around the bush. take care of ur body language…Look at ur friends face nd talk…Dont look at ur panel members face…hav a smile always…dont be aggressive..Most important u shud be active through out the GD..dont just say 2 points and then keep quite…

INTERVIEW:
TECH + HR :( + STRESS ) for some:(about 30 minutes)

I was lucky becoz i had all the 3…sighhh..First they started with the basic Hr questions:Intoduce urself…Hobbies…Etc…

Then the started the Tech questions:
Basic questions from OOP , C/C++, Mini Project ,DBMS, Data structure, OS and LSD…..they may ask u write small programs….

Just study the basics of the above mentioned topics….be confident wen u speak….Dont bluff…if u dont know say that frankly….Look at the Hrs eyes and speak.But if u r not good in ur subject…its sure that u will be rejected..they r looking for tech skills..extra cirricular activites are not much important..

Then for me another man came suddenly and started stress interview..first i couldnt follow what is happening around me..but slowly i realised…I just fixed a smile in my face….They will try to make u angry, but plzz dont oppose them
Answer to their questions with patience…and a pleasant face…(this is wat i did) and at last the panel member appreciated me…)

The results were announced after 1 hr…97 were selected and i was one among them( thank GOD!!!)…at last i did….”ALL THE BEST TO ALL MY FRIENDS” we can meet at SATYAM…..
